The program culminates in a capstone project that applies competencies and skills acquired through the program to a public health problem relevant to a student’s professional goals and interests.

Objective

The major objectives of this program are to:

• To promote foundation knowledge, understanding and capacity for appreciation of the importance and scope of public health as a key discipline.
• To disseminate knowledge and insight for the purpose of identification and prioritization of public health problems in the country and the community.
• To improve skills and attitude for conducting research and documenting learning necessary to assist the process of development and implement interventions and strategies related to public health.

Entry Requirements

• MBBS, B.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Physiotherapy or its equivalent degree is the basic requirement for all MPH courses. However, the courses are also open to non-medical persons having MA degree in Social Sciences, M.Sc. in Biological Sciences, Pharmacy and its relevant disciplines, Health Economics, Nutrition, Home Economics, etc. with at least 2nd Class or a CGPA of 2.50, who also may be eligible to apply.
• Any additional attainment above the minimum entry requirement may be credited to candidates’ accounts by the decision of the Academic Council.

• A combination of English and Bengali will be followed as media of instruction.
• Distance learning of the program via affiliated centres and any other collaboration with institutes worldwide.
• Online delivery of courses with the help of a web portal for students dispersed by distance.

Degree/Graduation Requirements

The university encourages most of the core and elective courses to be completed in the first two semesters. There is arrangement for flexible options as per need of the respective learner.
