The seven (7) core courses (taught in the first and second semesters) are compulsory for all the students. They have to select an area of major (shown later) for specialization. Eighteen elective courses (that include eight areas of specialization also) have been indicated, of which the students have to select 5/6 to cover a minimum of 15 credit hours. Some elective courses, however, are obligatory for a specific major area. All students must submit a dissertation during the third semester. The dissertation will carry 14 credit hours. The Field Practicum-cum-Mini Seminar will cover 7 credit hours. There will be options for credit transfer between universities within the country and overseas for credit waiver.
Each student has to choose one of the major divisions below for specialization. Each division requires the completion of certain credit hours. The students are also required to complete several elective and optional credits. Decisions regarding cancellation of electives with sufficient time for registration will be made as early in the academic semester as possible to allow students to register for their electives. The student may have the option to choose multiple specializations based on the courses chosen. The eight (8) Major Divisions for specialization are given below—
