Biography
Dr. Swapan
Kumar Sarkar has a long track record in research and academia in
multidisciplinary fields of Public Health, Medical Science and Engineering. He is now serving
as the Head of the Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering department and
is an Associate Professor. Dr. Swapan Kumar Sarkar started his higher education
journey from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) where
he obtained his BSc in Chemical Engineering degree in 2001 (exam held in 2004). He obtained his
Masters in Engineering Degree in 2007 in Advanced Materials Engineering (Major
in Bio ceramics and Structural Ceramics) from Kongju National University (South
Korea). He finished his PhD from Department of Biomedical Engineering and
Materials (renamed as Department of Regenerative Medicine) in Biomedical Science in
2012 from Soonchunhyang University (South Korea). His PhD research was focused
in Regenerative Medicine, Tissue Engineering, Artificial Organ, Drug Delivery
System etc. He pursued Post-Doctoral Research in the Same University at
Institute of Tissue Regeneration under the sponsorship of his longtime
supervisor from his MEng and PhD work. He became anΒ Assistant Professor (Research)
inΒ Institute for Tissue Regeneration in Soonchunhyang University in 2015 and continued prior to returning to
Bangladesh in 2016. He has a brief industrial experience for one year in
Innobone Corporation, Asan city, South Korea as Post-Doctoral Research
Associate.
Dr. Swapan
Kumar Sarkar Joined the Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering Department, Gono
Bishwabidyalay, Dhaka in 2017.Β He was working as in various capacities including Senior Assistant Professor and
Head of the Department prior to moving to World University of Bangladesh to
lead the Department of Biomedical Science and Engineering in August, 2022.
Dr. Sarkar has 21 years of research and teaching experience in a multidisciplinary environment. He has a unique blend of expertise spanning Engineering, Materials Science, Medicine and Basic Sciences and commands a broader and inclusive approach to Public Health Biomedical Science and Engineering research and education. He is a prolific researcher with 33 Scopus indexed high impact peer review journal. He has one South Korean Patent in his name and has authored one Book chapter Published by Pan Stanford Publication.
