Seminar on Effects of Sound, Noise & Noise Pollution on Human Health at World University of Bangladesh

The Department of Biomedical Engineering and Public Health at
the World University of Bangladesh hosted a thought-provoking seminar, inviting
the esteemed presence of renowned ENT specialist and former Vice Chancellor of
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Professor Dr. Pran Gopal Datta,
MP. The seminar, held in the Founder Treasure Morsheda Choudhury Auditorium,
brought together a diverse audience eager to delve into the intricate
relationship between sound and human health.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Professor Dr. Abdul
Mannan Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of the World University of Bangladesh, who
shared his personal connection with Prof. Dr. Pran Gopal Datta, highlighting
their shared history as comrades in the liberation war of Bangladesh.
Expressing gratitude for Prof. Dr. Datta's commitment to public health
discourse, Dr. Choudhury set the stage for an enlightening session.
Prof. Dr. Pran Gopal Datta, celebrated for his expertise in
otolaryngology, captivated attendees with his profound understanding of the
science of hearing and its implications for overall well-being. With eloquence
and depth, he illuminated the various hearing challenges associated with
abnormal sound and sound pollution, drawing attention to the detrimental effects
of excessive noise on human health. Through his keynote address, attendees
gained insight into the multifaceted impact of noise pollution on public health
